The Peluso 22 251 is styled after one of the world's rarest and most coveted microphones. It captures the nuances of the vintage "251" sound. The Peluso 22 251 employs a dual sided edge-terminated 34mm gold-coated Mylar capsule and a 6072A glass triode tube. The circuitry and transformer have been designed to match the vintage "251". Whether you're micing snare drums or steel guitars, violins or vocals, the 22 251 will provide great results.

The 22 251 is paired with the Peluso MX-56 power supply. The dual sided capsule in the Peluso 22-251 enables the power supply to feature 9 polar patterns in an array from omni-directional to cardioid to figure eight.

The Peluso 22251 microphone features our heavy-duty 8-pin screw on cable connector. The large diameter pins in the screw on connector give a tight and secure cable connection designed to perform for a lifetime of use.

Acoustically matched pairs available upon special request.

Microphone kit comes as a complete system including: 22 251 Microphone in a Wood Box, MX-56 Power Supply, New-style 8-Pin Screw on Cable Assembly, and a Shock Mount all packed in a Flight Case.

'There is something inherently 'right' about the sound of large-format, large-diaphragm valve mics when it comes to recording vocals, and the 22 251 delivers a lovely bright, clear sound that retains just the right amount of warm, harmonic richness to complement the source nicely, whether a male or female voice.'
'…in comparison with an original ELA M 251 it is the bargain of the century, delivering 95 percent of the sound character for a small fraction of the cost of a vintage model.'

-Hugh Robjohns, Sound on Sound, May 2010

'My single Peluso 22 251 virtually put my Neumans and vintage AKGs out of work.  I used to use KM184s for close miking acoustic guitars, with a 414 on the body.  Now I just use the 22 251.  I used to use U87s and Sony C3000s on vocals, now the 22 251 is my go to.  Running the Peluso 22 251 through a Great River pre-amp I am getting vintage sounds with just a trace of saturated distortion and burr that makes vocals, guitars, room miking drums, and percussion feel real and warm in any mix.  This is one seriously great microphone and has become my go to for ALL omni miking applications'.
