The Focal SM9 monitor speaker establishes itself as a reference thanks to the precision of the stereo image, its capacity to reproduce the micro details of the audio signal, as well as its large dynamics capabilities.
A major SM9 benefit is basically having two monitoring speakers in one cabinet.
A 3-way monitor with huge low-end (Beryllium tweeter + 6.5" 'W' woofer + 8" “W” subwoofer + 11" passive radiator). This mode has a 30Hz to 40kHz full-range frequency response.
A 2-way monitor with focused mids (Beryllium tweeter + 6.5” 'W' woofer). This mode produces focused frequency response from 90Hz to 40kHz, allowing you to check the mix for systems with limited low-end response (tv, computers, cars, phones, etc). This mode allows focusing on the midrange, traditionally difficult to equalize and balance compared to the other information contained in the audio signal. The activation of this mode is made by selecting the FOCUS mode on the side panel.

• Pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter
The inverted dome tweeter is a hallmark of Focal. Introduced more than twenty years ago, this tweeter produces high output - without increasing directivity.
The pure Beryllium dome tweeter covers 5 full octaves (from 1,000 to 40,000Hz) with unmatched speed and transparency. The TB872 tweeter delivers outstanding dynamics thanks to its amazing magnet field (2.1 teslas).
• The 'W' cone
Focal has been developing the technologies of composite sandwich cones for more than 15 years. The 'W' process (Glass/Foam/Glass) provides a true optimization of the frequency response by tuning mass, rigidity and damping parameters. The balance between these 3 fundamental and often contradictory parameters is the basis of the outstanding sound neutrality of our speakers.
• Passive radiator
