Bock Audio Microphones

Bock Audio is a California company known for hand building high end microphones for the recording industry. Bock Audio's mission statement is to deliver the highest possible performance in microphones at reasonable prices.

David Bock, one of the most experienced vintage microphone people in the US today, is the man behind Bock Audio. He spent years at some of the most famous studios as their tech: Hit Factory, Ocean Way and Hyde Street. He then went on to co-found Soundelux Microphones, which enjoyed great success from 1996 to 2006. In 2007, David formed Bock Audio to carry on his personal designs developed over the previous ten years.

David Bock's talent and experience has led many of the recording industry's most highly regarded engineers and vocalists to depend on David's microphones for their most important work. The current product line-up:

  • Bock 251 (replaces the ELUX251)
  • Bock 151 (replaces the E251C)
  • Bock 195 (replaces the U195)

Tidepool Audio was one of the largest Soundelux dealers in the U.S. We established a reputation for providing our customers with no-nonsense information regarding the tonal character and potential applications of each of those classic microphones.  Now we can help you choose the right Bock Audio microphone to compliment your vocal style and type of music.

David Bock Audio microphones capture beautiful, toneful renditions of vocals and musical instruments. These are not ruler-flat test instruments; think of a dramatic or romantic presentation for a starting point.  Call to discuss your needs and arrange a demonstration.

We are a factory-authorized Bock Audio microphone dealer; all Bock microphones purchased from Tidepool Audio carry a three year warranty (one year warranty on tubes).  For your peace of mind, any warranty issues are handled directly by the designer David Bock.  Before you buy your next microphone, call us for honest advice and competitive pricing.

Bock Audio 251 - Modeled after the best of the original Telefunken ELAM251 microphones. This tube mic has sweet, incredibly extended & detailed highs, without being the least bit harsh. Cardioid, omni, & figure 8 patterns are switchable on the microphone body. Includes cable between power supply & mic, 'Pro Spider' shock mount, and wood box.

Bock Audio 151 - A cardioid-only tube mic with two distinctly different sounds: First, it captures the airy, extended presence reminescent of the 251 microphone.  Throw a switch, and it warms up with a gutsy mid-range presence, perfect for male voices. It's like having two distinctly different mics in one package! If you don't require multiple pickup patterns, this mic will easily hold it's own with mics costing $5K! Call for a down to earth price on the Bock 151.

Bock Audio 195 - in stock! A mic with the low frequency performance of the FET47 and the high Frequency performance of the 87FET. Fixed cardioid pattern. This is a super versatile mic for big vocal presence, acoustic guitars and overall drum kit mic'ing.  If you have been on the hunt for an affordable pro-level recording microphone, make sure to give a listen to the Bock 195.  People often think they're hearing a tube because of the large presence the 195 conveys, but its actually a FET (field effect transistor) design.  Includes 'Econ Spider' shockmount and wood storage box.
